TRAVELLING THROUGH THE CANVAS

A unique art show brings together artists from 17 countries to raise money for a social cause

Now Puneites will get a chance to gape at the mesmerizing sunset in Udaipur, dive into the German nightlife, or stroll along the docks of Hamburg — all under one roof. Come Sunday, artwork from across the globe will find its way to the fourth edition of the WOW International Art Show, organized by the Pune Expat Club and Lexagent in association with Panchshil.

“WOW, International Art Show has brought artists from all over the world on a single platform. People from as many as 17 countries are exhibiting their works here. Art is universal and hence, impressions from around the world are presented in this unique show of photos. Paintings and art installations,” says Preeti Roongta Co-founder of the Pune Expat Club.

Francesco Camiolo, an Italian who has been working as a plant manager at an automotive factory for over six years in Pune, is displaying two of his photographs. The two pieces, titled Lisbona Lights and Udaipur Sunset, were clicked by Camiolo during his travel Is, “I have only recently been interested in photography,” says Camiolo, who started clicking photographs as a way to document the different cultures and people he came across. “I usually take photographs for my pleasure, but when I heard about this exhibition and the charitable muses it was up-ported. I decided to come aboard,” he says.

Artists such as Sue Dunne (the UK), Claudia Schools (Germany), Samereh Sarabadani (Iran), and Patricia Sehoubben (Belgium), among others, will be showcasing their works.

The works of the participating artists and photographers will be on sale at a standard price and all proceeds will be donated to Bright Star Education, a charitable organization, Ten professional artists are contributing their art for a silent auction at the Celebrity Pavilion at the event, and the entire auction proceeds will go to Asha No Kai, an NGO that works with women and girls.

While Paul Sowerby, Managing Director of Cummins Research and Technology India Ltd will be the chief guest. Sugar Chordia, Director of Panchshil Realty, will be the guest of honor at the event. The closing ceremony will be presided over by Mukesh Malhotra. Managing Director. Weikfield Products.
