According to Randeep S. Sarai, Liberal Member of Parliament for Surrey Centre, the House of Commons passed the M-44 motion. The M-44 motions declared fast-tracking of Canada’s PR process for international students and immigrant workers
The M-44 motion stated the government to release a plan for the expansion of skilled immigration so that skilled migrants from all over the world can access the benefits of Canadian Permanent Residency. The move is taken to increase the inflow of migrant workers, especially in the fields of labor shortages. The M-44 move also states to smoothen the transition of temporary resident status to a permanent resident
The M-44 motion and easier Canada PR decision were taken considering that international students and temporary foreign workers are an integral part of Canada’s economy.
As per the official statement, the Canadian government aims to strengthen the connections between International immigrants and immigration programs.
According to Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, tweeted about the move saying
“Kicked things off this session by presenting the ways our government is looking to expand pathways to permanent residency for temporary foreign workers and international students. A special thanks to my colleague @randeepssarai for bringing forth this important motion.”
